Graco to pay hefty fine for delayed safety recall

Graco Children’s Products has been fined $3 million and ordered to spend another $7 million for child safety development programs over its failure to immediately recall about four million defective child car seats, The New York Times reported on March 20.

According to the report, as early as 2009, Graco learned that the buckle in some child car seats may be defective and prove difficult to quickly unlatch in an emergency situation. However, the company insisted that the products were safe and that no safety recall was needed. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ordered the company to recall the affected products in January 2014, but the company did not adhere until a month later.

At Detroit Personal Injury Attorneys, we believe Detroit residents should be protected from negligent manufacturers who refuse to take steps even amid safety concerns. 200,000 plastic-tainted Motrin infant drops recalled

Due to possible contamination, Johnson & Johnson (J&J) voluntarily recalled around 200,000 half-ounce bottles of infant Motrin, according to CNN on September 7.

In the recall, the manufacturer said the Concentrated Motrin Infant Drops berry flavor were possibly contaminated with tiny plastic specs. Consumers were warned not to use the recalled products with lot numbers DCB3T01, DDB4R01 and DDB4S01. J&J also advised retailers to pull the infant medication from their shelves immediately.

On their website, J&J said consumers’ health and well-being is of utmost importance to them, and urged customers to seek help through their consumer care center.

Although no one was reportedly injured by this recalled product, many Americans sustain serious injuries and harm from recalled products every year.
