ThinkPad computer battery packs recalled

Thousands of ThinkPad notebook computer battery packs are being recalled by Lenovo Inc. over fears that the product may overheat and cause a fire hazard, according to a report by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CSPC) on April 21.

148,800 ThinkPad battery packs that might overheat were sold at different computer and electronic stores nationwide and online at from February 2010 to June 2012. The affected battery packs were sold as a separate product or with certain ThinkPad notebook computer series.

The company has already received four reports of overheating that resulted in property damage. One user reported reddened skin linked to the issue.

Consumers can contact the company for a free replacement.
