Glass contamination prompts Beech-Nut Nutrition recall

About 1,920 pounds of baby food were recalled after its manufacturer received a complaint about a glass shard found inside one of the jars, according to a report by the U.S. Food Safety and Inspection Service on April 14.

Beech-Nut Nutrition recalled its “Stage 2 Beech-Nut CLASSICS sweet potato & chicken” packed in 4 oz. jars over fears of glass contamination. The affected products were manufactured in December 12, 2014 and have an expiration date of “DEC 2016.” Recalled products have product numbers between “12395750815” and “12395750821,” and have an establishment number “P-68A” written on the DA’s inspection label.

Currently, the company has received one report of oral injury linked to the issue, but anyone hurt by the product should contact a health care provider for treatment.
