Prominent lawyer dies in a car crash

Attorney Corbett O’Meara, son of U.S. Judge John Corbett O’Meara, died following a car crash involving two cars at around 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, November 9 on Harper Avenue at Shady Lane.

St. Clair Shores police said in a statement that the 1999 Acura being driven by O’Meara struck a tree after hitting the rear of a silver Mercedes Benz. Both drivers were transported to a Detroit hospital.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Mercedes Benz, a 69-year-old Eastpointe woman whose name was not released, is in critical condition.
